mobile device center v2 update can t see outlook 2007 b

I have been trying to install the Mobile Device Center v2 Update and it keeps complainign that Outlook ( I have Outlook 2007 Beta) isn't the defalt emailer and it fails. In the Default Programs cpl applet only Windows Mial is shown, and Outlook 2007 Beta isn't an option. Using Outlook 2007 Beta Tools > Options > Other and choosing Outlook 2007 Beta as my default emailer makes no difference and it is still not seen in the Default Programs cpl applet .
Syncing worked until this Mobile Device Center v2 Update and now it doesn't work. Only good thing with this is that the Password dialog box has focus now when it pops up and you don't have to click on it to enter the password.....

Have you tried turning UAC off, rebooting and then setting your default mail client?

Thanks but I have UAC off permanently as I found it very intrusive.
The problem is that the default program control can't see Outlook 2007 Beta at all. Whatever I do in Outlook's own interface to make it the default mailer, it is not registered.
